Theodore Shapiro will compose the original score for upcoming
comedy THE POLKA KING, starring Jack Black, Jason Schwartzman, Jenny
Slate and Jacki Weaver. The movie is currently in post-production and
was directed by Maya Forbes (Infinitely Polar Bear) and Wallace Wolodarsky
who also co-wrote the screenplay based on Joshua Brown
and John Mikulak’s 2009 documentary The Man Who Would Be Polka King, which
followed the rise and fall of Jan Lewan, a Pennsylvania
polka sensation who unwittingly brought a town to its knees in
a Ponzi scheme.
David Permut and banner Permut
Presentations produce alongside Black’s Electric Dynamite, Priyanka Mattoo, Ben Stiller’s
Red Hour and Shivani Rawat’s ShivHans Pictures. No specific release date
has been announced.
Theodore Shapiro has signed on to score upcoming

directed by Rob Letterman (Goosebumps, Shark Tale) and tells the story of two

Zoolander 2) wrote the screenplay based on the book by Dav Pilkey.
The movie, which is currently in production, should be
released by 20th Century Fox on June 2nd, 2017 and will
feature the voice talents of Kevin Hart, Nick Kroll, Kristen Schaal
and Ed Helms.
