December 29th, 2009: INTERVIEW: TROPIC THUNDER Lakeshore Records
recently published new interview with the composer Theodore
Shapiro discussing his approach for scoring Ben Stiller's
action comedy TROPIC THUNDER. You can watch the video below.
In other news DID YOU HEAR ABOUT THE MORGANS? was released in
theatres but there is no information regarding possible
soundtrack album. Coming next is DIARY OF A WIMPY KID set for

December 25th, 2009: SAMPLE:
JENNIFER´S
BODY
One brief sample from
Theodore Shapiro´s unreleased score from horror-comedy
Jennifer´s body has been added to the samples in multimedia
section. I have no idea where this sample is coming from as
there has been no news about possible regular or promotional
release of the score and certainly no score track is listed on
the soundtrack album. Anyway, it´s a pretty cool and modern
score in typical Shapiro fashion, so enjoy it while you
can.
November 29th, 2009: WEBSITE LAUNCHED After planning this website for
a while (originally it was supposed to be website for Theodore
Shapiro and Teddy Castellucci), it is finally finished as
exclusive Theodore Shapiro website featuring three different
biographies, full discography and numerous samples from
Shapiro´s works including suite from his unreleased beautiful
score for MYSTERIES OF PITTSBURGH. If you have anything worth
including or and suggestions, please, don´t hesitate to
let me know.
November 27th, 2009:
NEW PROJECT: DIARY OF A WIMPY KID According
to MovieScore
Magazine, the upcoming 20th Century Fox comedy DIARY OF A WIMPY KID, directed by
Thor Freudenthal and starring Steve Zahn, Chloe Moretz and
Rachel Harris, will get a score by Theodore Shapiro. It’s his
first score for Freudenthal, whose previous feature, Hotel for Dogs, was scored by John
Debney. The film is based on the Jeff Kinney illustrated novel
about a wise-cracking junior high school student, to be
portrayed by 11-year old Zachary Gordon. Among his other
upcoming films are DID YU HEAR ABOUT THE MORGANS?, also a comedy, starring Sarah Jessica
Parker and Hugh Grant. Diary of a
Wimp Ki d will premiere on April 2 next year. Color Force
is producing for release via 20th Century Fox and Fox
2000.
June 8th, 2009: INTERVIEWS: YEAR ONE Several interviews with Theodore
Shapiro about his score for new Harold Ramis´s
comedy YEAR ONE has been recently published. Two
audio and two written interviews are included in Interviews
section. Theodore Shapiro recently completed his score for
comedy I LOVE YOU, MAN for which he composed only a few
minutes of score split in a few short cues throughout the
movie. The album, released by Lakeshore Records, therefore
contains majority of original score included in the film. In
the meantime, Shapiro is also finishing his score for
JENNIFER'S BODY (co-composed by Stephen Barton) and his
upcoming project Hugh Grant/Sarah Jessica Parker movie, DID
YOU HEAR ABOUT THE MORGANS?.
March 13th, 2009: RECORDING SESSIONS:
YEAR ONE The coverage of recent YEAR ONE recording sessions is now
available on ScoringSessions.com. The score is described as a
largely thematic score that utilizes strong brass and hints of
Middle-Eastern stylings. Shapiro's contemporary approach to
the music is also felt through his utilization of pre-recorded
band elements, including flutes and bowed Middle-Eastern
instruments (A.J. Racy), guitar (Joel Shearer and George
Doering), drums (John Robinson), flutes and didgeridoo (Pedro
Eustache), bass (Neil Stubenhaus, oud (Ludwig Goransson), and
percussion (Mike Fisher and Brian Kilgore). Read the whole
coverage and check the photos from the sessions at
Scoring
Sessions.com.
