presidential election and Sarah Palin's campaign, Theodore Shapiro reunites with director
Jay Roach again in more political arena, scoring director's upcoming comedy
THE CAMPAIGN featuring Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis as two rivals from North Carolina
tagling against each other in presidential elections. The
movie also stars John Lithgow, Dylan McDermott, Brian Cox and
Day Aykroyd. Warner Bros. is releasing the movie on August 10.
Theodore Shapiro is still working on his score, which is also
quite sparse and therefore chances for its release are not
very high. You can watch the trailer

April 18th, 2012: INTERVIEW:
Avast ye Matey!
New interview with
Theodore Shapiro was released today in latest issue
of Film Score Monthly Online. You can read the article,
where Theodore Shapiro discusses his score for THE
PIRATES! here. The
movie is opening in the US next week and the score album
should be released around that time but nothing has been
announced yet. Here is a little quote
from the interview: "The story is
about a very ragtag group of pirates. So the score is part
swashbuckling pirate music, but part very falling apart at the
seams. There is an element of color in the score, which is
junky percussion and detuned guitars and concertina, stuff
like that. And then a lot of that fits in with a very large
orchestra doing exciting, swashbuckling-type material. The bad
guy in the movie is Queen Victoria, so there's definitely a
whole element of British music that's part of the score. Her
theme is an evil version of "Rule Britannia." Then there are
also some very English sea shanties that I've written. I had
to educate myself in English music."
