NEW PROJECT:
SNATCHED Theodore Shapiro is
teaming up with Chris Bacon (Bates Motel, Source Code) and
will provide original score for Jonathan Levine's upcoming
action comedy SNATCHED starring Amy Schumer, Goldie Hawn,
Christopher Meloni, Randall Park, Óscar Jaenada and Wanda
Sykes. The film revolves around a daughter who takes her
recently divorced and somewhat neurotic mother on a trip to an
Amazon rainforest. Something goes seriously wrong during the
course of their vacation, and the film follows them as they
embark on a mad dash to make it to an American embassy. The
movie will be released by 20th Century Fox on May 12, 2017 and
you can watch first trailer below.
November 17th, 2016:
NEW PROJECT: THE POLKA KING Theodore Shapiro will compose the
original score for upcoming comedy THE POLKA KING, starring
Jack Black, Jason Schwartzman, Jenny Slate and Jacki
Weaver. The movie is currently in post-production and was
directed by Maya Forbes (Infinitely Polar Bear) and
Wallace Wolodarsky who also co-wrote the screenplay based
on Joshua Brown and John Mikulak's 2009 documentary The
Man Who Would Be Polka King, which followed the rise and fall
of Jan Lewan, a Pennsylvania polka sensation who unwittingly
brought a town to its knees in a Ponzi scheme. David Permut and banner Permut
Presentations produce alongside Black's Electric Dynamite,
Priyanka Mattoo, Ben Stiller's Red Hour and Shivani Rawat's
ShivHans Pictures. The movie will premiere during Sundance
Festival on January 22, 2017.

NEW PROJECT:
CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS Theodore Shapiro
has signed on to score upcoming CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS for
DreamWorks Animation. The movie is directed by Rob Letterman
(Goosebumps, Shark Tale) and tells the story of two kids who
hypnotize their mean high school principal and turn him into
their comic book creation, the kind-hearted and elastic-banded
Captain Underpants. Nicholas Stoller (Fun with Dick and Jane,
Zoolander 2) wrote the screenplay based on the book by Dav
Pilkey. The movie, which is currently in
production, should be released by 20th Century Fox on
June 2nd, 2017 and will feature the voice talents of Kevin
Hart, Nick Kroll, Kristen Schaal and Ed Helms.
September 11th, 2016: ALL ACCESS: THEODORE SHAPIRO
New
interview with Theodore Shapiro has been published earlier
this week by Film Music Media. You can watch it above. The
interview covers many topics including beginnings in the
business, working with Ben Stiller, his approach when scoring
comedy as well as specific projects and collaborations in
detail. Most of the interview is devoted to his work on
Ghostbusters.

NEW PROJECT: COLLATERAL BEAUTY From FMR:
Theodore Shapiro is reteaming with David Frankel on the
upcoming drama COLLATERAL BEAUTY. The film stars Will Smith,
Edward Norton, Keira Knightley, Kate Winslet, Helen Mirren,
Michael Pena and Naomie Harris. The movie follows a successful
New York advertising executive who experiences a deep personal
tragedy and retreats from life entirely and his colleagues
devise a drastic plan to force him to confront his grief in a
surprising and profoundly human way. Shapiro has previously
collaborated with Frankel on the features The Devil Wears
Prada, Marley & Me, The Big Year and Hope Springs.
COLLATERAL BEAUTY will be released on December 16, 2016

July 21th,
2016: NEW PROJECT: OFFICE CHRISTMAS PARTY Theodore
Shapiro will reunite with directors Josh Gordon and Will Speck
(BLADES OF GLORY) and will score their upcoming comedy OFFICE
CHRISTMAST PARTY starring Jason Bateman, Olivia Munn and
Jennifer Aniston. The movie will be released by
Dreamworks SKG and Paramount Pictures on December 9th.

and Zoolander 2 before that, it feels really good to be
working on a couple of scores that are smaller in scale and I
think I could use a little break from enormous orchestral
writing. It feels really nice to be scaling down for a couple

July 13th, 2016: NEW PROJECT: WHY HIM? Theodore Shapiro is
reteaming with director John Hamburg and is currently scoring
upcoming WHY HIM starring Bryan Cranston and James Franco
(watch the trailer above). WHY HIM? marks their fourth project
together after SAFE MEN, ALONG CAME POLLY and I LOVE YOU MAN.
The movie will be released by 20th Century Fox on December
25th.

ALBUM:
WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER Special 15th anniversary of WET HOT
AMERICAN SUMMER score was released digitally last week and is
now available through iTunes. The album features original score and songs composed
by Theodore Shapiro and Craig Wedren. Some of the songs were
also reused in last year's sequel "First Day of Camp". Vinyl
edition is also in the works and should be available on July
22nd. You can already pre-oder the LP through Amazon. Check out

June 9th, 2016:
ALBUM: CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE Lakeshore Records will release the
soundtrack to CENTRAL INTELLIGENCE, directed by Rawson
Marshall Thurber and starring Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart
with Aaron Paul and Amy Ryan. The album features score
by Theodore Shapiro and Ludwig Göransson! and will be released
digitally on June 17th. The tracklist and cover art have been

May 17th, 2016:
ALBUM: GHOSTBUSTERS Sony Classical
will release Theodore Shapiro's original score for upcoming
GHOSTBUSTERS on July 15th. The album is currently available to
pre-order from Amazon and it will feature roughly 51 minutes of the original
score. Recording of the score began earlier this month. In the
meantime new trailer was also released and you can watch it
above. RCA Records will also release songs compilation
for the movie on July 15th, so be careful what you are
ordering. Score album's cover and tracklist have been added to
the project page.

ALBUM: THE INVITATION Lakeshore
Records will release Theodore Shapiro's experimental score for
THE INVITATION on April 8th. You can already pre-order the CD
from Amazon and check the project page for
details and more information, which will be added as soon

ZOOLANDER NO. 2 Lakeshore Records has released Theodore Shapiro's score for
ZOOLANDER NO. 2, which is opening in theatres worldwide today.
The album features roughly 50 minutes of original score and
